Blinds are an excellent way to control the amount of light that enters your room. They can be used for fully blocking out sunlight during those hot summer months, or to adjust the window coverage to varying degrees to regulate the exact amount of sunlight being let inside a house. This has many benefits, as they not only allow more privacy by reducing natural lighting from outside but also assist with regulating temperature because while blinds may stop direct sun rays coming through glass panes, it will still provide some shade and protect against heat radiating indoors.

Blinds come in many shapes and sizes, but there are 2 main types: Roller Blinds which have a single piece of material wound around a cylinder and can be rolled on or off that cylinder to control their movement up and down; and Panel Blinds which consist of a number of slats held together by cord, which move as one when being opened or closed depending if the orientation is vertical (spread apart) or horizontal (grouped together).

At Canberra Curtains, some of our most popular styles are as follows:

Roller Blinds

Roller blinds come in all shapes and sizes to fit any room of your home. They consist of a single-piece fabric and allow for privacy and sunlight protection as they are rolled up or down, making them perfect for rooms that are exposed to natural light. You can even double them up for more privacy or light protection, depending on the needs of you space. Roller Blinds are made with durable materials like polyester or cotton fabrics that will last season after season without fading.

Roman Blinds

Roman Blinds are a type of window covering similar to roller shades, except they have pleated folds instead of being rolled up on cylinders. They can come in two different types: soft and hard depending on the fabric used. Either way, the result is elegant simplicity with minimalistic lines that work well anywhere from bedrooms to living rooms.

Vertical Blinds

Vertical Blinds a type of panel blind made up of elongated vertical vanes which slide over a connected track to control their coverage on your windows. They can be opened and closed using either a cord mechanism, or wound via a handle mechanism called a wand, depending on what you need most in your home environment.

Venetian Blinds

Venetian blinds provide a practical and durable solution to your windows covering needs. They consist of horizontal slats but come in various materials such as timber, metal, vinyl or PVC so you are sure to find one that suits your style! The singular horizontal slats are connected by cords or fabric tape, and are operated via cords or wands which open and close, or raise and lower them.

Block-out Blinds

Block-outs blinds are the best way to keep light and heat out of a room. These are roller blinds that have the specific purpose of blocking out light. There are different grades of block out, all the way up to being able to block out 100% of natural light, which is perfect for bedrooms in particular. Block-outs are also commonly referred to as Black-outs, and those names can be used interchangeably.

Honeycomb Blinds

Honeycomb Blinds are a versatile and energy efficient option for any home. These window coverings come in one, two or three layers to provide varying levels of insulation. The fabric is bonded together to create honeycomb shaped cells that vary depending on your requirement. They can be either raised from the top, bottom, or both. Due to their cellular construction, they also have acoustic dampening properties.

Panel Blinds

Panel blinds are a modern take on vertical blinds and it's easy to see why. With their wide slats, the panels literally glide across and back in channels for a super clean look. They come in a wide range of colours so you can pick the perfect shade for your space, and are perfect for bi-fold, or sliding doors.

Blinds are a great way to create an elegant and modern look in your home. They’re perfect for any space, whether it be the living room, kitchen, bathroom or bedroom. Blind styles can operate manually or via motorized function and come in a variety of colours that will accentuate your theme!
